An SMI Pumps Vertical Froth Pump is a specialised slurry pump designed to efficiently handle frothy, aerated and difficult-to-pump slurries commonly encountered in flotation processes. The design assists with separating entrained air from the slurry, promoting stable flow and reducing the risk of air locking during operation.

How Does a Vertical Froth Pump Work?

The SMI Vertical Froth Pump operates by creating an open vortex within the sump through the rotation of the impeller. The tangential inlet and conical tank design encourage effective vortex formation, allowing entrained air to separate from the slurry before pumping. This helps provide smooth, consistent and high-capacity slurry transfer with minimal pulsation.
