What Is a G / GH Sand & Gravel Pump?

SMI Pumps G and GH Series Sand & Gravel Pumps are heavy-duty centrifugal slurry pumps engineered for the continuous handling of highly abrasive slurries containing large solids that cannot be effectively handled by conventional slurry pumps.

Designed for demanding applications, these pumps are well suited to mining operations, dredging, mineral processing, metal processing, river and waterway applications, and other environments where coarse particles and abrasive materials must be transported reliably. The GH Series is specifically designed for applications requiring higher discharge heads.

Design & Construction

The G and GH Series feature a robust single-casing construction secured by clamp bands and a wide internal passage designed to accommodate large solids while reducing the risk of blockage.

Wet-end components are manufactured from durable Ni-Hard and high-chromium abrasion-resistant alloys, providing excellent wear resistance and extended service life under severe operating conditions.

The pump discharge can be positioned through 360°, providing greater flexibility during installation and allowing the pump to be configured according to specific piping requirements.

The design combines straightforward installation and operation with strong NPSH performance, high abrasion resistance and dependable operation in demanding slurry-handling environments.
