Construction

Pump Construction & Exploded View

The AH/AHR Heavy Duty Slurry Pump features a proven modular design that combines strength, efficiency and ease of maintenance.

Constructed using high chrome alloy or wear-resistant rubber materials, these pumps are ideal for abrasive slurry applications throughout mining, mineral processing, aggregate handling and dredging operations.

To support long-term operation, SMI also supplies a complete range of replacement pump components, including impellers, liners, throatbushes, shaft sleeves and other critical wear parts.

Bearing Assembly

  • Function: Supports the pump shaft to ensure smooth rotation while reducing friction and vibration.
  • Features: Adopts high-quality bearings for stable operation and long service life.

Base

  • Function: Supports the volute liner and its components and holds the pump in place.
  • Material: High strength cast iron or steel.
  • Features: Robust and durable, easy to install and maintain.

Impeller

  • Function: Impeller is the core component of slurry pump, responsible for converting mechanical energy into kinetic energy of liquid and pushing the slurry to flow.
  • Material: High chrome alloy, wear-resistant rubber, polyurethane, etc., can be selected according to the working conditions.
  • Features: Optimized vane design improves conveying efficiency while reducing energy consumption and wear.

Liners

Includes Front Liner and Back Liner.

  • Function: Protect the pump casing from slurry abrasion and assist in flow channel optimization.
  • Material: High-chrome alloy or wear-resistant rubber.
  • Characteristics: Easy to replace, wear-resistant, can significantly extend the life of the pump body.

Stuffing Box

  • Function: Wrap the flow channel, protect the internal components, and guide the flow of the slurry.
  • Material: High chromium alloy or rubber, with high wear resistance.
  • Features: Thick-walled structural design, which can effectively cope with high-concentration and high-abrasion conditions.

Pump Shaft

  • Function: Connects impeller and drive unit, transmits power.
  • Material: High-strength alloy steel, heat-treated to improve strength and corrosion resistance.
  • Characteristics: Stable structure, smooth operation, avoid bending and breaking.

Shaft Seals

Seals includes Packing Seal, Mechanical Seal, and Expeller Seal.

  • Function: Prevent slurry from leaking out of the pump, protect bearings and volute liner.
  • Features: A variety of seal forms are available to suit different working conditions.

Expeller

  • Function: In the secondary expeller seal, the secondary expeller utilizes centrifugal force to reduce the pressure of the slurry on the sealing area and prevent leakage.
  • Material: Cast iron or high chrome alloy.
Features: No need for external water seal, effectively reducing maintenance costs.

Shaft Sleeve

  • Function: Protect the pump shaft and reduce the wear of slurry on the pump shaft.
  • Material: Various types of stainless steels or steel coated with ceramics.
  • Features: Easy to replace, reduce pump shaft maintenance cost.

Volute

  • Function: Convert the kinetic energy of the impeller into pressure energy and direct the flow of slurry to the outlet.
  • Material: High chrome alloy or wear-resistant rubber.
  • Characteristics: Thick wall design, excellent wear resistance.

Discharge Flange

  • Function: Connects the pump with the delivery pipe to ensure the smooth delivery of fluids.
  • Material: High strength metal.
