What Is a Dredger Pump?

SMI Pumps Dredger Pumps are high-efficiency centrifugal pumps designed for the demanding transfer of sand, sediment, slurry and other abrasive materials encountered in dredging operations. Design & Construction

SMI Dredger Pumps are designed to deliver high flow rates and high heads, providing the pumping capacity required for transporting sediment and slurry over extended distances.

Pump casings, impellers and other critical wet-end components are manufactured from high-chromium alloys and wear-resistant materials selected to withstand highly abrasive operating conditions.

Open or semi-open impeller designs provide generous internal passages, allowing the pump to handle larger solids while reducing the risk of clogging and maintaining consistent slurry flow.

Depending on the application and operating requirements, shaft sealing arrangements can include gland seals, mechanical seals or expeller seals. These systems help prevent abrasive slurry from entering the bearing assembly, supporting reliable operation and extended component life.
